Scuba Diving
A formalized marine protected coral reef sits just a few metres out from the lodge and offers one the chance to see beautiful corals and an abundance of tropical fish as well as some of the bigger reef fish species found in the area.
Reef Snorkeling
Snorkelling is the perfect activity for both experienced and new comers to the ocean. Guests can experience some good relaxed snorkelling as both a guided or independent experience.
Night Diving
Our Ossimba House Reef is the perfect site to explore – with the dive site depth of no deeper than 12m, divers have the opportunity to spot an incredible array of sea life that only comes out during the dark hours.
Whale Watching
July to September is peak whale watching season in Mozambique. The most common whale found in Mozambique is the Humpback Whale. These migratory whales make their way to the warmer waters of the Indian Ocean to mate and give birth. Humpback whales are known to be particularly acrobatic, making them easy to spot from land. Ossimba’s boat can take you out to sea to view these gentle giants from the water. The elusive Whale Shark has also been seen in our waters.
Kayaking
Kayaking has to be the most interesting way to explore and navigate through Ossimba Beach Lodge’s nearby mangroves. Being able to tread so closely to these unique seaside forests often makes for one of the most unique and memorable experiences of any trip to Mozambique. Alternatively, you could take a kayak out onto the ocean for a day at the beach with a difference.
Bird Watching & Forest Walks
Explore the nearby vegetation by signing up for a forest walk and stopping to indulge in some bird watching. The diversity of both endemic and migratory birds present at any given time is always a delight to nature lovers and avid bird watchers alike. To experience the forest and the animals that inhabit it at its best, opt for an early morning or late afternoon excursion.
Entertainment Area/Bar
A relaxed and spacious entertainment area includes a large bar, dining facilities, a comfortable lounge area, WIFI and Satellite TV. A deck above the water allows one to relax with a breeze cooling you down and is the perfect place for sundowners.
